Japan pledges in aid for Africa at Tunisia conference
Japan has pledged in aid for development in Africa, saying it wants to work more closely with the continent at a time when the rules-based international order is under threat after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Announcing the package at the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Tunis, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said investment would focus on health, agriculture, climate resilience and human security.
The summit brought together leaders and business figures from across the continent, with Africa seeking new partners as food and energy prices surge in the wake of the war in Ukraine.
